Getting ready to Walk!!

Yesterday Dec 2nd Kadyn took 3 steps. We were practicing and having her walk back and forth between Dan and I. She takes 3 steps then lunges for one of us. I can't believe how fast she is growing. It seems like just yesterday we were bringing her home for the first time. She is such a happy little girl. I can’t believe she is 11 months old today. This year has gone by so fast. We had a really good Thanksgiving with the Kneelands this year. We drove to my parents house on Wednesday after I got done working and spent Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at their house. We went to Mike and Heather’s house this year for dinner and it was so tasty! Kadyn liked playing with all Ella’s toys. Then back to Mom and Dad’s house. Dan and I got to go to see Four Christmas’ on Friday night and it was pretty good.
We plan to celebrate Christmas with the Kneeland side on Dec 20th this year and then will spend Christmas day with the Nelsons up in Cloquet. Maybe by the time Christmas comes around Kadyn will be walking if not running!!

More Teeth

Kadyn is working on some more teeth. Only thing is she has her bottom front 2 teeth and now she is getting the two top teeth that are on the side of her two front teeth. She is missing her two front teeth. Won't that look funny!

Other then that we are pretty much getting settled back into the Shakopee house. Dan was laid off about a month ago so he has been home with Kadyn. She is on a schedule but still not sleeping in her crib. We have to work on that. That is a goal in the next month.

KADYN'S FIRST TOOTH!!

I was wondering what had gotten into Kadyn and why she wasn't wanting to sleep. Well on Wednesday morning I noticed she has a tooth that just broke through. Yeah!! I am really surprised she hasn't been more fussy since they say that can really bother them. She has been sleeping better the past 2 nights now and has even gone back to sleeping in her crib.

We plan to go to the State Fair tomorrow morning. I will be sure to eat lots of yummy food!!

Kadyn 8/21/08

I thought I would share some more pictures of Kadyn from today. She is getting so big and is doing something new all the time. She likes to Jump now if you are holding her on your lap sometimes she will start to do that. Today was a good day at daycare. She actually slept for 1-1/2 hours. she has been a little stinker at daycare and hasn't wanted to nap. She has really been fighting going to bed at night too. She was sleeping through the night but since she had another ear infection about a month ago she doesn't want to sleep in her crib or if you can get her in there she wakes up around 3:30 and won't go back in her crib. She will fall right to sleep though if we bring her in our bed. she has us all figured out!

She is soo close to crawling. She can move backwards and really gets up on her knees or feet.

This is her pose she always does for some reason. As if she is saying " Aren't I cute"

Little girl no longer little!

I haven’t written for a while so I thought I would do an update.
Kadyn has been in daycare now for 2 weeks (since July 21st, 2008) She seems to like it and is pretty worn out and tired by the time we pick her up. She has been going to sleep at about 6:30 every night and even sleeping in the crib through the night. She had her 2nd ear infection last week. They put her on antibiotics and I took her back this past Friday to make sure it was gone and it was however she still wasn’t herself to the doctor did some looking around and noticed her throat was really red and her tonsils were big. So I guess she caught the sore throat virus that is going around. They checked her for strep but luckily that was negative. The past 3 nights now she doesn’t want to sleep in her crib and has been in our bed. I always said my kids are going to sleep in their own bed but when it comes down to it after trying until 3:30 in the morning Friday night to get her to sleep in her crib I gave up. Hopefully it is just because she isn’t feeling well.

Yesterday was a rough day for me. I was just looking at how much Kadyn was growing up. She is tall and as she was sleeping last night I watched her and could imaging her as a 3-4 year old and then as a teenager. It was weird almost like I could imaging how she was going to look. My mom and I went shopping at the outlet mall in North Branch and picked up some outfits for her. We got some good deals. I couldn’t believe I was buying stuff for 12 months since they are coming out with some fall stuff and right now she is wearing 9-12 month clothing. She fits into 9 month and the 12 month stuff is a little big but not too bad. She could defiantly wear that size. I hold up the clothes and think to myself there is no way that would fit her. She is too little. Yea right truth is it fits her.

She has been our little shopping buddy. She just sits in the stroller and watches. She is so well behaved. She likes to talk and make noises so you always know where she is if either my mom has her and I am looking for them or if I have her and my mom is looking for us.

Kadyn is such a blessing and we love having her in our lives. We feel pretty lucky!

Update 5/14/08

Hey all!

Things are going really well in the Nelson house. We celebrated Mothers day this past Sunday. Dan got me some flowers and Kadyn got me a little strawberry plant. It was fun to think a year ago this past weekend we found out we were pregnant with Kadyn. I found out the day before Mother’s day.

We are settling into my parent’s house. Still trying to get a schedule and get things put away but for the most part things are going well. Kadyn is talking more then ever. She is defiantly getting a personality and she lets you know when she is mad. She gets a little attitude to her yell. It’s kindda funny. She tried peaches last week one day but I haven’t given her any since then. We switched her to formula permanently now and she seems to be so much happier. We think she might be teething the way she chews on her hands and drools. She likes to play with her toys more as she is learning to work her hands better together. She went shopping this past weekend with me, My Aunt Mary and my mom. We got some really good deals at Albertville outlets. Kadyn was so good and slept a lot of the time. We had a good time. It will be really nice to get out more and not be so cooped up in the house.

Dan really likes his new boss. He likes the crew so much better then his old crew. So hopefully he won’t be moved any time soon.

Kadyn seems to always be growing. She is only 4-1/2 months but wearing 6 month clothing. Even some of those seem small. She is so long.

We look forward to getting up to the Lake with Dan’s family this year. Kadyn has her swim suit and summer clothes ready. Now we just need to wait for some warmer weather. I was able to get the week of the 4th of July off this year so hopefully Dan will be able to get the time off so we can go to the lake.

Our house has been on the market for about a week and a half and we have had 2 showings. We get the roof redone this next Monday and Dan met with the window company yesterday so 2 of the windows can be replaced soon too. If anyone knows someone looking for a 3 bedroom house in Shakopee look us up. We just lowered the price so it is a pretty good deal.

That’s all for now!

Take care,
Katie

Update on life in the Nelson family...

Kadyn had her 4 month shots last week. Boy is she getting big! She weighted almost 15 pounds and was 25” long. She was a little fussy for a couple days and had a fever for a couple days but has been doing really good the past 2 days. She is sleeping from about 9pm till 5am so that has been nice. She has started to “talk” so much more often. She likes it when you blow on her belly. She thinks that is pretty funny. When she was a little smaller I used to always stick my tongue out at her and now she has really gotten good at that. She seems to have really figured out how to work it and sticks it out quite a bit. She still sleeps in our room but in her car seat since with the acid reflux she gets heartburn when you lay her flat.

We are somewhat moved and living in Ham Lake in my parent’s basement. We still have to finish moving some things from our house but the main things have been moved. Things are going pretty well. We moved in there this past weekend. It has taken us less time to get to work in the morning. It is only taking me about 35 min and 30 min for Dan.
It has been really nice to not have to drop Kadyn off anywhere in the morning. Mom has her in the morning until Dad gets home then he takes her until Dan or I get home.
We have each been picking a night to make a meal. I can’t remember when Dan and I made meals every night. It’s probably been since the apartment when I used to cook a lot more. Hopefully this will help us loose some weight too since we are not eating out much any more. I even brought leftovers for lunch. I made Vegetable soup last night for dinner tonight. I am looking forward to that.

Dan still likes what he is doing. Today he is switching crews at work and he is looking forward to that. We will see how he likes the new boss man.

I think that is about all that is new for now.
Hope everyone is doing well.

Katie

Back to work Part II

Good news… Dan received a call to come back to work last Wednesday. So once again we are a double income family J He is working off Hwy 62 and Lyndale. Dan’s sister Dory is watching Kadyn until we move and that has been so nice having her with family that we trust. Last night she slept from 9:30pm- 5am this morning. It was so nice. Dan actually had to wake her up to feed and change her so we could bring her to Dory’s. We weighted her last weekend and she now weighs 15lbs. She is getting so big and doesn’t look so much like a baby anymore. She is starting to look more like a little girl. She likes to play in the jungle jumperoo, which is a chair she sits in that has toys on it and she can bounce.. She also likes to sit on the couch like a big girl and watch cartoons. We try to limit that but it makes her happy when she is fussy.

Kadyn goes to the doctor for more shots on the 25th. That is not going to be fun. Last time she was sore all day and really fussy.

Well that is all for now. I will write again later.

Kadyn

We took Kadyn to the Chiropractor on Thursday and Saturday this past week and since then seems to be doing better. Even going to bed some nights around 8:30-9pm. It has been nice. We are going to take her 2 more times this week and then she should be done. She was really smiley this weekend so hopefully she is feeling better. Now that I figured this out I will definatly have any future babies visit the chiropractor soon after we come home from the hospital. She was telling me they can also help with morning sickness. If I only knew that earlier.

We're moving

Dan and I have decided to move. Our daycare fell apart 2 weeks before I was to go back to work and I haven't really been able to find anyone to take Kadyn part time and with her being so fussy it was scarry leaving her with someone that might get frusterated with her crying. We will be putting our house up for sale in the next couple weeks and sometime in April we will be moving to live with my parents for a little while. In about a year we hope to find a house with some land in the Ham Lake area.
My mom is going to work from home in the mornings Monday - Thursday and then my dad will watch Kadyn in the afternoons. I am able to work from home on Fridays so I will be with her that day. This will save on daycare and will allow Kadyn and my parents some bonding time. I am pretty excited to move closer to my family as I have really missed them over the past couple years. Having a baby really makes you realize how much your parents did for you when you were young.

Back to work...

March 27, 2008

I started back to work this week. Things have been going pretty good. It surprised me that I really don't mind going to work. Maybe because I know Kadyn is at home with Dan so I know she is in good hands. Its actually been nice to get a break, even if I have to work.

We took Kadyn to the doctor yesterday. She has just been crying so much all day long and I was starting to think maybe it wasn't just collic. Well the doctor said it could be acid reflux but more then likely just collic. I decided to make an appt at the chiropractor since I have heard from several people that that can help collic. Her appt is today so I will send an update.
